Rockwell Automation is the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and is dedicated to making its customers more productive and the world more sustainable. Rockwell Automation employs about 19,000 people serving customers in more than 80 countries. More than 75 percent of North American manu facturers depend on Rockwell Automation’s industrial automation control and information solutions, such as Allen-Bradley® ControlLogix, MicroLogix, Rockwell Software FactoryTalk® VantagePoint and more.
Under the Recognized System Integrator PartnerNetwork Program, Rockwell joins forces with qualified System Integrators to offer consistent, high-quality, state-of-the-art solutions that increase productivity and coordinated project planning for fast, smooth and highly efficient project implementation. l Software FactoryTalk® VantagePoint and more.
Why PACIV As a Recognized System Integrator for Rockwell Automation, we continuously certify our resources on the latest Rockwell products and systems, we can access Rockwell industry and process experts for any complex matters that may arise on any given project and we receive updates on new systems functionalities and technologies as Rockwell rolls them out. We’ve performed hundreds of implementations and upgrades over the years using Rockwell Automation products and systems. We can provide all or parts of the automation System development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design, integration, implementation, testing, start-up and commissioning to support of the on-going operational system(s). We have a significant amount of experience and successful implementation history of automation projects and resources with advanced skill sets. We have more Rockwell platform experts on staff, within the regions we serve, than Rockwell itself. We have developed in-depth domain expertise in all manufacturing areas within the Biopharma industry, from continuous and batch processes to dry product packaged equipment, packaging, utilities, warehousing and building-management systems as well as within the Water/Waste Water and F&B sectors.
Recent Rockwell Automation Projects
PACIV has been the outsourced partner for the automation team in a large multinational Pharmaceutical company’s technology campus including research and development, pilot plant operations, bulk manufacturing, and fill/finish facilities. We have helped maintain and at times expand the 20,000+ I/O point system primarily controlled by Rockwell SLC, PLC, and ControlLogix systems. There have been many projects to remediate antiquated controllers and I/O with the current ControlLogix platform standard. We have helped to develop and execute the various commissioning, qualification, and validation (where applicable) documentation sets to support the systems. The systems maintain, control, generate and distribute all of the plants’ utility systems (including various quality of water systems, nitrogen, steam, instrument air, among others).
A Life Science customer requested a system to display batch information on an HMI screen on the manufacturing rooms and to be able to view the screens remotely from a web browser. The system needed to be implemented using Rockwell’s FactoryTalk View software and thin client hardware. Each room should have it’s own thin client connecting directly to a virtual machine with Windows Server 2012. The VM was configured and installed with the required software such as FactoryTalk SE Server, FactoryTalk SE Client and FactoryTalk ViewPoint. FactoryTalk Viewpoint provides a view only access to the room’s HMI screens. The thin client then would open a remote connection to the virtual server and display the corresponding room HMI screen. The HMI screen intefaces with SAP to retrieve information from a batch number entered by the operator and display’s it on screen. Some of the screens also provides an interface to OSI Soft PI Server to retrieve data reported by PLC’s on the manufacturing rooms. It also provides a secondary screen to display health and safety information of the product being manufactured on the room. Security is also integrated using the domain level authentication and restricts access to changes from unauthorized users.
